In Your Opinion, What Is More Important: Research Towards Curing Aging Or Towards Colonizing Mars?

Why are you assuming this is a binary question where one wins and the other loses?Colonizing Mars, the Moon, and anyplace in-between will require extensive research about the human body which will benefit the medical sciences across the board leading to advances in fighting what ails us today and how to get this flesh & bones to last a couple of decades longer. Consider NASA Spinoff as a good starting point for what the possibilities are through putting our energies into colonizing and exploring our solar system. Why are you so focused on curing aging when it has several major issues that need to be overcome as we see many people dealing with dementia type problems in their 60s and later years. Our ligaments, joints, and muscles are simply not designed for living of 100 years with many causing problems well before then. Its very interesting that the Bible mentions living some 70 years in the Book of Psalms.King James Bible The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Since many people are greatly worried about our population numbers of some 7.4 Billion with some predictions of it growing to over 11 Billion by the year 2100, any large scale improvements to life expectancy would cause those numbers to spike even further. How are you going to provide the housing, food, and everything else to that population?Space colonization gives us that outlet needed for an increasing population while also helping us learn so much more about the human body.

First of all, yes, the (purported) author of the Bible has much better recourse than the standard Cease & Desist letter -- for example, He could send a plague of locusts or kill your kin and kine -- and arguments about "the life of the author" would probably make things worse rather than better, but, no, He probably won't take any sort of action. And yes, the translator for any particular version does hold the copyright but there are many, many translations whose copyrights have long since expired. The King James Version (certainly the most poetic translation) saw its copyright expire before George Washington was born. There's also the now-public-domain American Standard Version. Finally, there are versions released under very flexible licenses. For example, you can record the New English Translation without paying a dime so long as you aren't making money off it yourself. And the translation certainly does matter. For proof, look no further than Genesis 1:2. The (free!) King James Version reads:And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. But the (not free!) New International Version isNow the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. There are those who claim that Shakespeare and Marlowe helped out on the KJV. I don't know if I believe that, but you don't have be a poet to realize that "hovering over the waters" is not the image you want to start your Bible with. Makes the Lord of Hosts sound like He's in a helicopter...

Is there extra-Biblical evidence that substantiates the Exodus as it is described in the Old Testament of the King James Bible?

There is neither archaeological nor any other extra-biblical evidence for the flight of Israelites out of Egypt. In fact, nearly all historians believe the Exodus never happened as described in the Bible. It has been pointed out that the Egyptians would of course have removed all evidence of a humiliating defeat, so we can not rely on the absence of such documents to inform us whether the Exodus really happened. However we can rely on the large quantity of everyday commercial and miscellaneous Egyptian documents that we do have. From a biblical perspective, these surprisingly show no evidence of any disruption, series of catastrophic plagues, loss of 600,000 adult male slaves for a total of at least 2 1/2 million slaves, widespread theft of jewellery or, finally, loss of an entire army in the pursuit. Life simply went on as normal throughout the entire period. With no evidence of a large cohort crossing the Sinai during the Late Bronze Age, and no evidence of an invasion and conquest of Canaanite cities, we must draw a blank in terms of archaeological evidence for the Exodus. The historical evidence is equally unproductive. Pharaoh Merneptah reports finding rural people called Israelites in Canaan, around 1210 BCE, but not in sufficient numbers to represent the descendants of a mass migration out of Egypt. Merneptah boasted that he decimated these people, at the same time as he punished the coastal Canaanites for rebellion against Egyptian rule. That, by the way, is one of the difficulties with the Exodus legend u2014 The southern Levant was under Egyptian control throughout the Late Bronze Age and remained so until about 1130 BCE.Is there extra-Biblical evidence that substantiates the Exodus as it is described in the Old Testament of the King James Bible?.

Why do some "Christians" say that the King James version of the Bible is the best version, but slam the books that have the apocrypha in them, when in the 1611 editions of the King James version actually has the apocrypha in it?

The books considered as Apocrypha had all been considered and excluded from the Biblical canon by the year 358. There were really only three works being considered for inclusion or exclusion by that year, the balance of the canon having been largely settled much earlier. No orthodox Protestant Christians consider the Apocrypha as having any authority or value beyond that of other human writings. The reason they were excluded from the NT canon is that most dont attempt to claim any sort of apostolic authority, and those that do are clearly fakes, mostly produced by the Gnostics in an effort to create hidden truth by which they could attempt to justify themselves before other believers. As to the King James Version carrying some sort of superiority, thats a stylistic preference on the part of some people, or (for a few) a poor understanding of the history and nature of Scripture. What we can say with some authority is that the KJV (Authorized Version) contains a great deal of English that has changed meanings in the time between 1611 and the present. It relied on the manuscripts available in its day, but of course could not take advantage of the vast body of knowledge about Scripture that has come to us since.I love the language of the King James Bible (which, by the way, is Early Modern English), but it has a lot of shortcomings as a version for study. The best currently available in English are the NASB (New American Standard Bible, not to be confused with the American Standard Bible, which is a completely different, far inferior, version) and the ESV (which shares much in common with NASB. ).
