Introduction to Starter | Ice Hockey of Starter

Ice hockey of starter

During Brown's youth, ice hockey was in its infancy in the United States. In 1910 Brown formed and managed an amateur ice hockey team for the BAA, which played at the newly constructed Boston Arena.

Over the next two decades, Brown organized hockey events held at the Arena, including Canadian-American games and collegiate competitions. When the Arena burnt down in 1918, Brown persuaded its owner, Henry G. Lapham, to rebuild. Brown was then named general manager and promoted hockey as its major draw. In 1934 Lapham purchased the rival Garden, and named Brown as its general manager and vice president. When professional hockey was first introduced and its teams sought to play at Boston's rinks, Brown opposed, favoring amateur competition. He later accepted the professionals and promoted the Boston Bruins playing at the Boston Garden.

Brown served as athletic director at Boston University (BU) and in 1917, was instrumental in the creation of the school's first hockey team. The BU hockey team's annual Most Valuable Player award is named the George V. Brown Memorial Award, in his honor.

For the first 1924 Winter Olympics, Brown organized the U.S. Olympic Hockey team, with seven of the ten members coming from the BAA team. The team earned a silver medal.

Because of his contributions to the emerging field of hockey, in 1961, Brown was inducted into the International Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Canada, as a Builder. He was also enshrined as a Builder by the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, Minnesota, in 1973.

National Lacrosse League career of starter

In 2001, he made his NLL debut with the Toronto Rock, where he played for four seasons as a backup goaltender. On July 27, 2004, Cosmo was traded to San Jose in a six-player blockbuster trade. He continued to succeed as a starter for the Stealth, and was selected as the starting goaltender for the Western Division in both the 2005 and 2006 National Lacrosse League All-Star Game.

In 2009 Cosmo finished 5th in the league with a 12.28 goals against average (GAA). During 2006, Cosmo's 10.38 GAA was the third best in the league, and his save percentage was 6th best in the league. 2007 was Cosmo's best career season, leading the league in both GAA (10.22) and save percentage (.792). For his performance, Cosmo was named the Progressive Goaltender of the Year award for the 2007 season.

Cosmo was traded to the Chicago Shamrox for Matt Roik and two first-round draft picks. However, shortly before the 2009 season began, the Shamrox suspended operations, and a dispersal draft was held. Cosmo was selected first overall by the expansion Boston Blazers. During the 2009 NLL season, he was named a reserve to the All-Star game.

After three seasons, the Boston Blazers announced that they would not be participating in the 2012 NLL season, and a dispersal draft was held. Cosmo was selected third overall by the Minnesota Swarm. Cosmo never reported to the Swarm, and five games into the 2012 season he was traded to the Buffalo Bandits for two first-round draft picks.

Howard Freigau of starter

Howard Earl Freigau (August 1, 1902 July 18, 1932), nicknamed "Ty", was an American professional baseball third baseman and shortstop. He played seven seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) between 1922 and 1928 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Robins, and Boston Braves. The 5ft 10in (1.78m), 160lb (73kg) Freigau batted and threw right-handed.

Freigau attended Ohio Wesleyan University, alma mater of Branch Rickey, the manager of the Cardinals during Freigau's tenure in St. Louis. On May 23, 1925, Rickey traded Freigau to the Cubs in a deal to obtain starting catcher Bob O'Farrell, and the third baseman went on to post his most successful season, batting .299 (including .307 as a Cub) and posting career highs in hits (150), home runs (8) and runs batted in (71). Freigau also was the Cubs' starter at third in 1926, but lost his regular job the following season and was briefly sent to the minor leagues. He divided his 1928 season, his last in the Majors, between Brooklyn and Boston and played in 69 games before returning to the minor leagues for the rest of his abbreviated career.

In July 1932, when playing for the Knoxville Smokies of the Southern Association, Freigau went for an evening swim in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He dove headfirst into the shallow end of a swimming pool, broke his neck, and drowned at the age of 29.

Freigau's 537 big-league hits included 99 doubles and 25 triples, as well as 15 home runs.

Bob Veselic of starter

Robert Michael Veselic (September 27, 1955 December 26, 1995) was an American professional baseball player. The right-handed pitcher appeared in Major League Baseball in six games and 2623 innings, all in relief, for the 19801981 Minnesota Twins. He was listed at 6ft (1.8m) tall and 175lb (79kg).

Veselic was native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but attended Alameda High School in the San Francisco Bay Area. He was selected by Minnesota in the first round of the 1976 Major League Baseball Draft out of Mount San Antonio College. A starting pitcher in minor league baseball, he won 18 games (losing eight) in his second pro season, spent with the 1978 Visalia Oaks of the Class A California League.

Veselic made his MLB debut on September 18, 1980, in relief of Pete Redfern in a 50 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. After spending 1981 with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, Veselic again joined the Twins in September and worked in five games. On September 13 at Metropolitan Stadium, he relieved starter Don Cooper in the sixth inning with the Twins trailing the Chicago White Sox, 42. After allowing one inherited runner to score on a sacrifice fly, he gave up only one more run the rest of the way, and the Twins rallied to win the game, 76, for Veselic's only Major League victory. (Ironically, Cooper later became the White Sox' longtime pitching coach.)

Veselic returned to the minors in 1982 and finished his career after the 1983 season. He died from cancer at the age of 40 in Los Angeles.

Biography of starter

Benton was born in Noble, Oklahoma, a small town a few miles south of Norman, Oklahoma. In 1940, Benton led the American League with 17 saves. In 1941 he went 156 with a 2.97 earned run average (ERA) (second in the American League (AL)) in 38 games. He completed seven of 14 starts and got seven saves. Despite his 713 mark a year later, his ERA was 2.90 with career-highs in starts (30) and innings pitched (22623). Benton was chosen for the AL All-Star team in both 1941 and 1942, and then missed the 1943 and 1944 seasons while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Benton was discharged from the Navy in November 1944 and had his best year in 1945. He compiled a record of 138, a career-low 2.02 ERA, five shutouts, and 12 complete games in 19123 innings. In a remarkable testament to the Tigers pitching in 1945, Hal Newhouser and Benton were No. 1 and No. 2 in ERA among AL pitchers. Newhouser's Adjusted ERA in 1945 was 195 and Benton's was 175. The Adjusted ERA figures posted by Newhouser and Benton in 1945 rank as the first and fifth best seasons all time for a Detroit Tigers pitcher with at least 150 innings pitched. Benton pitched in relief in three games in the 1945 World Series and gave up only one earned run for a 1.93 World Series ERA.

The rest of his career he worked largely as a setup man or as an emergency starter. A two-time All-Star (194142), Benton compiled a career 9888 record with 697 strikeouts and a 3.36 ERA in 168813 innings. He died in 1968 at the age of 57 from burns he suffered when the Lynwood, California, motel he managed exploded into flames.

Chris Fussell of starter

Christopher Wren Fussell (born May 19, 1976 in Oregon, Ohio) is a retired Major League Baseball pitcher.

After attending Clay High School, Fussell was drafted in the 9th round of the 1994 MLB draft and he signed with the Orioles on June 14, 1994.

He began his professional career with the Gulf Coast Orioles in 1994 and began a slow, but steady, rise through the Orioles farm system with stops at Bluefield (rookie leagues), Frederick ("A" ball), Bowie ("AA") and Rochester ("AAA").

He made his major league baseball debut with the Orioles September 15, 1998, pitching five innings as the starting pitcher against the Texas Rangers. He gave up three runs and did not get a decision in the game. He pitched in 2 more games for the Orioles that year, finishing 01 with an ERA of 8.38 in 9.2 innings (3 games, 2 as a starter).

In 1999 he was traded to the Kansas City Royals for Jeff Conine. He Spent most of the next two seasons on the Royals roster, primarily as a reliever with occasional starts. In 2001, he had surgery to remove bone spurs in his right elbow. He returned to the Royals in 2002 and spent the spring in big league camp and the 2002 season in Omaha.

After his release from the Astros in 2005, he played with the Independent League team the Camden Riversharks from 2005 until he was picked up by the Los Angeles Dodgers to provide bullpen depth for their "AAA" team, the Las Vegas 51s in 2007.

Experience of starter

Telesco worked as a college summer intern for the Buffalo Bills (199194). In 1995, Telesco began his NFL career as a Scouting Assistant for the Carolina Panthers. He served in that role for two seasons before becoming an Area Scout in 1997.

Telesco joined the Colts as an Area Scout from 19982000. He served as a Pro Scout from 200103 before being elevated to the teams Director of Pro Scouting (200405). At the conclusion of the 2005 campaign, Telesco moved into the Director of Player Personnel role.

Telescos tenure with the Colts was one of the most successful eras of the franchises history and his arrival in 1998 also coincided with Peyton Manning's arrival in Indianapolis. From 19982012, the Colts went 15486 and appeared in the playoffs 12 times, winning eight division titles, while finishing second four times. Those 12 postseason appearances included a victory over Chicago in Super Bowl XLI following the 2006 season and a loss to New Orleans in Super Bowl XLIV after the 09 season. Indianapolis 154 wins from 19982012 were the second-most in the NFL during that span after New England's 168 wins.

San Diego/Los Angeles ChargersOn January 9, 2013, Chargers President Dean Spanos chose Tom Telesco as the teams new general manager. Telesco was hired after long time Chargers GM A.J. Smith was fired in 2013. He inherited a team that had not made the playoffs since 2009 and been underachieving due to injuries and poor depth. Telesco, 40, is the youngest general manager in Chargers history and one of the youngest general managers in the NFL. The new GM said the Chargers will be a draft-driven organization that will use free agents to supplement the roster.

Managing career of starter

After the 1966 season, his only campaign with Boston, Kasko retired as an active player and managed the Red Sox' Triple-A clubs, the Toronto Maple Leafs (1967) and Louisville Colonels (196869), to a cumulative 213213 record and one playoff berth.

He succeeded the popular Dick Williams as Red Sox manager in 1970, and guided the club through four seasons, with mixed results. The Red Sox finished above the .500mark each season, but only contended in 1972 when they finished a half-game out of first place, behind the Detroit Tigers, in the American League East Division. The half-game differential was partly due to the brief players' strike that spring: between six and eight games were lopped off each club's schedule and it was agreed that lost games would not be "made up" to resolve pennant races.

During Kasko's four-year managerial term, he incorporated young players such as Carlton Fisk and Dwight Evans into the Red Sox lineup, converted relief pitcher Bill Lee into a successful starter, and showed patience with sore-armed veteran Luis Tiant as he returned to form as a dominant pitcher. But when the 1973 Red Sox again could not measure up to the powerful Baltimore Orioles of the era, Kasko was reassigned to an executive scouting position within the organization and replaced as manager by Darrell Johnson upon season's end on September 30. His final record with Boston, over four seasons, was 345295 (.539).

Is This Bad Starter Motor?
Sounds more like a connection problem or bad battery. Even if the starter was bad and the connections and battery were in good shape the voltage would not drop below 8 volts. Check for poor connection at the battery (both the positive and negative cables) The battery when charged up should show a static charge of 12.7 volts Hope this helps1. how does an induction motor work? The simplest of all electric motors is the squirrel-cage type of induction motor used with a three-phase supply. The armature of the squirrel-cage motor consists of three fixed coils similar to the armature of the synchronous motor. The rotating member consists of a core in which are imbedded a series of heavy conductors arranged in a circle around the shaft and parallel to it. With the core removed, the rotor conductors resemble in form the cylindrical cages once used to exercise pet squirrels. The three-phase current flowing in the stationary armature windings generates a rotating magnetic field, and this field induces a current in the conductors of the cage. The magnetic reaction between the rotating field and the current-carrying conductors of the rotor makes the rotor turn. If the rotor is revolving at exactly the same speed as the magnetic field, no currents will be induced in it, and hence the rotor should not turn at a synchronous speed. In operation the speeds of rotation of the rotor and the field differ by about 2 to 5 percent. This speed difference is known as slip. Motors with squirrel-cage rotors can be used on single-phase alternating current by means of various arrangements of inductance and capacitance that alter the characteristics of the single-phase voltage and make it resemble a two-phase voltage. Such motors are called split-phase motors or condenser motors (or capacitor motors), depending on the arrangement used. Single-phase squirrel-cage motors do not have a large starting torque, and for applications where such torque is required, repulsion-induction motors are used. A repulsion-induction motor may be of the split-phase or condenser type, but has a manual or automatic switch that allows current to flow between brushes on the commutator when the motor is starting, and short-circuits all commutator segments after the motor reaches a critical speed. Repulsion-induction motors are so named because their starting torque depends on the repulsion between the rotor and the stator, and their torque while running depends on induction. Series-wound motors with commutators, which will operate on direct or alternating current, are called universal motors. They are usually made only in small sizes and are commonly used in household appliances.2. is it bad to have a car with a lot of miles but new motor?well you got the tranny. that can go at any time. but if it is good then you will only have the odds and ends3. How does an AC motor work?Basically, an AC motor is a type of motor that is operated by an alternating current. It has two basic parts. First is a stationary stator and another is rotor. The above diagram shows the configuration of stator winding. I am giving an example for 3 phase motor. Hence, in above diagram A, B and C are the three phases. When the current is supplied to the windings, all the three windings become electromagnets. When the current reverses polarity of the winding also reverses. The stator windings are 120 degrees apart. Now, when the supply is given to the windings, only 2 phases of the supply are active and the remaining one phase is non-active or has no current flowing through it. Hence, the one phase which has no current flowing through it will have no magnetic field.Let us assume that at the start phase A has no current and no magnetic field produced. Phase B has current in negative direction and phase C has current in positive direction. Now, at some time 1, phase A has current in positive direction and phase B has in negative direction. While phase C has no current and no magnetic field. The resultant magnetic field vector has rotated 60 in the clockwise direction. Now at some time 2, phase A has current in positive direction and phase C has in negative direction while phase B has no current and magnetic field. The resultant magnetic field vector has rotated another 60.Now, after the end of 6 such cycles, the resultant magnetic filed vector would have rotated 360 or one full rotation. This is known as the Rotating Magnetic Field. Now, According to Faraday's law of induction,An emf induced in any circuit is due to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage through the circuit. As the rotor winding in an induction motor or AC motor are either closed through an external resistance or directly shorted by end ring, and cut the stator rotating magnetic field, an emf is induced in the rotor copper bar and due to this emf a current flows through the rotor conductor. Here the relative speed between the rotating flux and static rotor conductor is the cause of current generation. As per Lenz's law,The rotor will rotate in the same direction to reduce the cause i.e. the relative velocity. The rotor speed should not reach the synchronous speed produced by the stator. If the speeds equals, there would be no such relative speed, so no emf induced in the rotor, and no current would be flowing, and therefore no torque would be generated. Consequently the rotor can not reach the synchronous speed. The difference between the stator (synchronous speed) and rotor speeds is called the slip. The rotation of the magnetic field in an induction motor has the advantage that no electrical connections need to be made to the rotor.where Ns is the Synchronous speed and Nr is the Rotor speed.THANK YOU FOR READING.Ashutosh Sharma ( )How does an AC motor work?.
Delivering Value with User Stories the Ultimate Conversation Starter
At its core, Agile is about delivering value, getting feedback, and repeating the process as quickly as possible. In most Agile organizations, value is described in user stories. Over my years leading software and product development teams, I have seen many different permutations of user stories, and different styles work for different teams. Regardless of which user story permutation you use, one question remains:What is the real motivation for a user story? At its very basic level, a user story is a conversation starter. The first goal is to get the development team and the Product Owner (or customer) speaking about the desired outcome. If there is a lack of communication at this phase, the delivered outcome can be wildly different than what was expected. By having a conversation and sharing a vision with the team, they can begin to understand the needs and wants of the customer. And its important for the whole team to be a part of this conversation, as each one can bring a valuable perspective which may stimulate additional discussion.Agile Coach: Ok lets discuss whats at the top of the backlog.PO: The most important thing to me is this new transaction search. The users of our app really have no way of discovering details or investigating their transactions. Based on some user group polling, we know its important to them. I think we can really increase the joy and satisfaction users have if we can deliver this.Dev 3: Sounds interesting. Dev 1: How do users currently find information about their transactions? PO: Right now they must scroll through their transaction list with no way of telling what the details of the transaction are without opening the details of it. Its a really poor experience.Dev 2: Yea, that does sound frustrating. What are your thoughts on making it better? The team wants to deliver the right value; this conversation helps reduce or eliminate the delta between what was requested and what is delivered. The second goal of the user story is to understand the effort involved. Here the conversation centers on the development team asking as many questions as necessary to size the user story relative to other user stories they have completed. This relative sizing is important to help the Product Owner prioritize and answer When will x be done?Sizing is just one part of the prioritization equation, business value being the other. The two combined allows the Product Owner get the most bang for their buck as quickly as possible. Because sizing is based on effort and not time, how long cannot be answered.Different teams have differing points of view on what they desire. Ive been on teams which have used the common story point, and others which have used t-shirt sizes.Dev 1: That sounds like an XL to me. Dev 3: Well if we compare it to the last XL we did, I think its more effort, so I would say an XXL.PO: Ok, that sounds pretty large. Ill go back and see what I can do about breaking it down.Remember, each team will have its own scale so the values of that scale do not matter, and you cannot compare one teams values to another teams. For example:Dev 2: That sounds like a banana to me. Dev 4: Well if we compare it to the last banana we did, I think its more effort, so I would say a cantaloupe.PO: Ok, that sounds large. Ill go back and see what I can do about breaking it down.OrDev 2: That sounds like a squirrel to me. Dev 4: Well if we compare it to the last squirrel we did, I think its more effort, so I would say a raccoon.PO: Ok, that sounds large. Ill go back and see what I can do about breaking it down. What matters is the relative sizing between the user stories. Is story B less effort than, about the same effort, or more effort than story A.Beyond acting as a starting point for discussion and questioning, there is no single prescription as to what a user story should be or contain. Let me share my experience on what Ive found to be most valuable when it comes to creating user stories.1. Value statement (As a I want to so that )2. List of functional requirements3. List of acceptability requirements4. Simple spec5. Wireframes/mockupsYou may be saying WOAH! Thats a lot of stuff for a user story! but if the scope of the user story is appropriately small, this ends up being quite small as well. Lets break this down a little with an example of creating a simple transaction search:What you see above is what I expect the PO to come up with. Or, in some cases, the PO and the Development Team after discussing the story together. In some cases, the above could be considered sufficient. Ok looks like we all understand the value here and it seems reasonably small. In others, perhaps not. I think this is bigger than it seems. I have some concernsLets explore how this user story could evolve in a story discussion between the PO and dev team. Again, the goal of this is to reduce uncertainty, eliminate scope creep, and help drive predictability by making each user story small and understood.Dev 1: What should the auto-complete show?PO: Anything that matches what the user types.Dev 2: What do you mean anything? What fields? Merchant? Amount?PO: Hmmm. Yes, Merchant Name, amount, account number, and date.Dev 1: Ok, should these all be listed together? Do all these fields need to be displayed during the auto-complete?PO: Yes, for each item searched, all the fields searched should be shown in the auto-complete list.Dev 2: Ok, so there needs to be a drop-down list which shows all the fields of an item which could be potentially matched upon. Do we highlight the field(s) which do get matched?PO: Yes, well want that.Dev 1: I think that this is going to be too big. Well need to split out some of the search functionality into separate user stories.Dev 3: I agree.Dev 2: Agreed. Why would the developers want to split this out? What is considered too big? Is it possible for something to be too small?General guidance is a story should consume no more than 1/4 of the duration of one sprint. That said, regardless of sprint duration, I tell my teams the target maximum size should be about two days in length, with no minimum size. In this case, by asking a few clarifying questions, the dev team discovered there were some implicitly expected bits of functionality which were not described in the original user story.Something very important to remember with all of this though is size ! duration. Just as you can tell me a grape is smaller than a strawberry (most of the time), a dev team can say whether a user story is more or less effort than a user story already completed; most of the time.By splitting the user story into smaller user stories, the team gains better clarity on what is requested and the product owner gains more options for prioritization. Now, lets see how the discussion evolved that story.PO: Ok, so we could do Transaction Search and still deliver value without the autocomplete portion.Dev 2: Right, but I still have some more questions.Dev 3: Me too. Dev 2: When you say accessible from anywhere, what do you mean? PO: The search should be available from the top menu, or hamburger when displaying on mobile.Dev 1: Ok thats no problem.Dev 3: I want to talk about the autocomplete. I think there are two parts here. One is just showing the transaction name on any match, the other is the appropriate display of all the fields in a dropdown. There really is not much room there to show four fields all the time and highlight them. I think something a little more intelligent which shows just the field and maybe some subset of the other information would be better. Dev 2: Yea, that is going to take some work to do though. Dev 3: Agreed. PO: You know, that makes sense. How about we split that story into showing just the merchant name, and then another one which deals with showing more enhanced information. As different members of the team thought about different portions of the desired outcome, they discovered additional scope which was not described within the original user story, and that scope was non-trivial. Each member of the team has a different perspective and without those perspectives the teams chances of delivering the wrong thing increases. If the team had not brought up the Enhanced autocomplete functionality and identified it as a separate user story, the Product Owner may have been surprised the functionality was not completed by the end of the sprint. If you compare these to my original list above, youll see weve covered the value statement, list of functional requirements, and list of acceptability requirements. Were still missing two items thought the simple spec and the wireframes.Lets see how the team goes about those things.Dev 1: Ok, we all agree these are reasonably sized stories. Lets talk about what needs to be accomplished.PO: Ive got the wireframes here and Ill attach them to the stories.Dev 2: For the transaction search spec, how about Search box available in the top bar menu. Search will call API and return results in json. Dev 1: I think we should add Search occurs upon submission. Dev 3: Works for me. Dev 1: For the autocomplete functionality lets go with API Call will be made on every change to search box. List will be displayed five deep, or until bottom of viewport. No scrolling. Arrow keys can select a suggestion Dev 3: I think the arrow keys selecting something should be a separate story. It may seem simple, but I think there are some nuances to it. Dev 2: I agree.PO: Is it really that much more work?Dev:3: Yes, I think it would make the user story bigger than any of the others.PO: Alright.Notice how the Product Owner was surprised that something was more work. Remember, the dev team are fully empowered to accept or deny any user story into their iteration. Its up to them to determine if a user story is too big or not, no one else. The Product Owner is then empowered to determine the value that user story will deliver, enabling him to pick and choose what has the highest priority. You can see how something small which may have been taken for granted is split out into a new user story.Over this whole exercise, the team went from having what could be considered a vague idea of requested value, to a more specific understanding of requested value. Through the conversation, the team was able to break down a user story which did not fully define the goals of how the user should be able to interact with the product into four user stories detailing exactly how the user will interact with the product. You may have noticed that a couple user stories dont have specs. Specs are not always necessary, although they can be very useful. Ive found the simple style specs above are helpful to remind the eventual team member who works on the user story to remember what was discussed. If something is trivial enough, or well understood, teams may choose to skip this. This is where we differentiate our specs from full technical specs which historically detail a full implementation guide. A simple spec is NOT architecture. Architecture should occur during the execution of the story in the sprint by the folks working on it. The spec can help guide those decisions by helping to define the discussed implementation.I mentioned wireframes but did not show any. These do not have to be complex, but I do believe they are very important for any user interface. Something as simple as a quick sketch on piece of paper, or as others have described it, the back of a napkin, is more than sufficient to guide the team on how to implement things. Ideally the final UX design work will occur as part of the implementation of the user story. In Agile development, its important to keep the scope small and simple. If user stories are too large, it becomes very difficult to size or set expectations. User stories get the conversation started between product owners and developers, providing the opportunity to leverage strong, collaborative teamwork to focus and perfect that scope. Different teams will have different takes on what user stories contain, but the focus remains the same starting a conversation so you can deliver value as quickly as possible, measure and adapt, rinse and repeat.DISCLOSURE STATEMENT: These opinions are those of the author. How Do You Properly Use a Weber Bbq Chimney Starter?
Loosly crumple two sheets of newspaper into the bottom of the chimney. Set the chimney on the fire grate of your grill. Open the bottom vents if it is a kettle grill. Pour the charcoal into the top of the chimney. Light the paper through the holes in the bottom in two or three places. Let it set until most of the charcoal ignites (usually about 10-15 minutes). The paper will burn out long before but the charcoal will continue to burn it's way up towards the top. Pour the lighted charcoal evenly over the fire grate and replace the cooking gate. Wait until all the coals are covered with gray ash. You are now ready to cook. Bert1. How do you start a barbecue with a chimney starter ? Are they relatively inexpensive ?I am with you and the lighter fluid--YUCK! The chimney starters work like a champ. Just wad up some newspaper and plop it in. Pour on the charcoal and set the paper alight. In about 10 minutes or so, you have nice hot coals. I bought one a year ago while my gas grill was on the fritz--I think it was $7 or so2. Use of chimney starter on patio? You have confused me on the type of grill you have. I cannot understand why the chimney would smoke up the thermometer if the lid is removed or open (the way it is supposed to be while starting). Bricks will work for the chimney to set on for the amount of time needed to start the coals.3. would a chimney starter be worth using for a portable grill?if you mean a chimney, as in the Mexican chimney, yes it wood. That is what it was used for, besides heat4. how do you properly use a weber bbq chimney starter?Fill the chimney with the briquettes, with a piece of paper at the bottom, light the paper. The chimney is designed to keep the heat in the tube so that the coals get hotter faster. Do not dump the chimney until the coals are turning gray and hot.5. How do you start a barbecue with a chimney starter ? Are they relatively inexpensive ?Chimney starters work great ... just crumple up a few sheets of newspaper in the bottom, put enough charcoal on top to fill chimney, add some lighter fluid and light a match to the paper at the bottom, through a hole there. The paper will burn and ignite the charcoal, very little or no fluid needed! When going well dump the charcoal into the grill bottom and place rack over top and grill6. Why cant I use matchlight charcoal in a chimney starter?I learned this one the hard way last year. You do not need a chimney starter for this type of charcoal because it lights on its own. If you do use a chimney starter with it: 1. The charcoal will burn much faster greatly reducing your cooking time because much of it gets consumed in the starter due to the accelerant in the briquettes. I should have been able to cook two flank steaks one after the other on the grill and I barely had enough heat to cook the second one through. 2. It burns hotter and faster in the starter than regular charcoal. The flames went so high we were concerned about injury when trying to dump the coals into the grill.7. How can i light charcoal without lighter fluid and a chimney starter?Lighting Charcoal Without Lighter Fluid8. What Is the Best Starter Cruiser Motorcycle?
id stay away from the dimo j cycle1. What's a good starter motorcycle?Well, since you live in the Dallas area you will want enough power to stay safe if you decide to ride on the Highway. Also, texas has higher speed limits than most states. So, you should not consider these: Kawasaki Eliminator 125, American lifan, Honda Rebel 250, Honda Nighthawk as it has the same engine as the Honda Rebel. You want a bike that will go 80 mph and still have power to pass. The Suzuki GZ will go 80 mph. But barely and you would never be able to pass with it. The Yamaha v-star custom would be fine. There are several sizes. so, the 650, 920, 1100, would be fine for a beginer. However, I would not recomend the 1300 for a beginner. The Yamaha virago is Yamaha's earlier version of the V-star. and again this would depend on the size. Anything from 650to 1100 as the 250 does not have enough power for highway use in texas. There are other bikes you should consider too. Any v-twin engine rangining from 650 to 1100 would be suitible. Such as the Honda Shadows or Kawasaki Vulcans. You could even go with harley's 883 sportster if you can find one for $3000. The Suzuki Boulevard s40 I am on the fence about. It has a nice 652cc single cylinder motor. It is also belt drive which is nice. It has plenty of low rpm power which is friendly for the beginner. It is also light a manuverable. But, it was designed for the 55 mph speed limit and runs a bit buzzy at 70mph. I am not sure how it would do at 80mph. You would just have to test ride one to see if you would be comfortable at 80mph2. Good cookware starter set?Get a good basic boxed set. Everything a beginner needs is in there. I have some Calphalon that I really like, it was only about $300.3. 03 Honda Pilot, Trouble starting Vehicle?check the cables at the battery and starter , see if there isnt a bad ground4. Whats a good starter bike for me?I am 6'3" and around 325lbs and I ride a honda shadow 1100. I have no problem with anything related to size. During my motorcycle riders' course I was on a 200cc honda and had that baby going 65 in the parking lot... size really is not going to slow you down on a bike. Any bike will move you just fine. Believe me. Now, on the other hand, you have to look at comfort. I have a friend who's about 250 who rides a 600cc honda sportbike and loves it. I tried rididng it the other day and could not even turn the thing because my knees were hitting my elboes. The most important thing for you to do is find a bike that is not too big or too small, one that is not going to fall apart on you, and one that you will be proud to pull into a parking lot with. Sit on the bike and have someone at the dealer straddle the front tire so you can reach for the controlls with your feet. If you can not easily reach them or if it's uncomfortable to reach the brake or to shift the trans... you need a different bike. I only paid about 3 grand for my bike and it's required zero maintenance, I can ride it for looooooooong (8 to 10 hour rides are common) periods of time, and I feel great pulling into the local cruise night every time I can. Do not get wrapped up in the hype of "slowdown." Once you've been on a bike you will know what I mean. For the leathers, I use leatherup.com. I got my leather jacket in a XXXL and it fits great. They also sell chaps and leather pants if you want lower body protection, but I've never sized them out, so I really can not help you with that one.5. What is a good starter venomous snake? You are like 15 right? You do not need a venomous snake A couple days ago you wanted a snake that got 8 feet non venomous, now you want a venomous snake?? Sounds like you are just a kid that thinks getting a venomous snake is no big deal something you can just randomly decide to get with no experience and hardly any experience with non venomous.. Having a corn snake or ball python for a year or two hardly makes you ready for venomous snakes
Thoughts on Kickstarter Project, USB Based Variable Power Supply for Small Projects
Here's my thoughts, and hopefully I'll be able to swing this back around to be design centric rather than shopping centric. The whole USB thing really isn't interesting. It uses USB for power only, so basically USB is an over-glorified wall-wart. Having the ability to power it off of a computer isn't a huge benefit compared to the voltage and current limitations it gives. The voltage regulator is a linear regulator with a pot for adjusting the Vout. Any halfway competent hobbyist could hack something together in 30 minutes. 10 minutes for someone that is experienced. They would also likely use a better heat-sink to the max power is higher. And using some leftover wall-warts from "the box of orphaned wall-warts" makes this super cheap. If you hacked something together using spare parts lying around then you might spend US$5 and it would work just as good. The 7-segment display is a waste. It is useful, sure, but there is so much more that could have been achieved with that micro-controller.Here's how I would have designed that device to be much more useful:Use a micro-controller with an actual USB interface. Using a small app on the PC you could control the output voltage and monitor the output voltage and output current. It could implement some sort of programmable overvoltage/current protection as well. Controlling multiple vout's with sequencing or other simple "waveform generation" could be very useful. The power supply itself would be a switching regulator based on a SEPIC topology. This way the output could be either a higher or lower voltage than the input. The output voltage/current is controlled from the micro-controller. It is actually fairly easy to control the output voltage. Output current is a little more difficult, but not impossible. If a low-noise output is required then I would follow the SEPIC regulator with a programmable LDO regulator. Again, the output voltage would be controlled by the micro-controller. Usually the LCD output would be about 0.5v lower than the output of the SEPIC. In this way efficiency is still mostly high, but the output noise would be very low. Then I would design a similar device, but instead of a programmable supply it would be a programmable load. USB controlledI am new to electronics and am still just learning. I saw this project on Kickstarter for a small USB based DC power supply and was wondering what some of the more experienced people thought of it.I am considering buying two for experimentation/hacking at home. Is this a good idea or should I be considering an alternative product?Link to the Kickstarter project: UPDATE: It is closed and didn't meet funding but was relaunced here
Is Becoming an Independent Consultant for a Company Like Mary Kay Or the Body Shop Worth the Starter
What you are looking at is called multi-level marketing. Some of the better know MLM programs are Mary Kay, Tupperware, and Amway. This type of business is just like any other business - you get out of it what you put into it - both in terms of time, effort, and money. Part of it is also luck of the draw. If you should be fortunate enough to have an upline that is really dedicated to helping you grow your network you are better off than about 90% of the others in a MLM program. And this is like any sales job - you have to know your products, and you have to beleive in them. I have heard so many MK women say they beleive in the products "but I can not use MK products because . . . . . . " and then you can hear every thing from "they make me break out" to "eewwuu - I do not like that particular odor."1. Did body shop screw me and my insurance company?Call your insurance company and ask their guidance2. Should auto body shop replace my car window with a dealer brand? You would need to check State law on that. In some States you can demand it. Others no3. Body shop Lost my car keys & the keyless entry gadget thing.?how the hell do they lose something like that, check their pockets...4. what to get at the Body Shop?you can get a really good lip balm from there, its called i love...then it says the flavour of the lip gloss like i love...mango and passionate..) get a rasberry scrub! the smell stays on your body!:D5. Am I being scammed by my auto body shop?A minor bump can cost lots of money. I read that if you drive just 10mph and you hit a pole, it will cost over $5000 to fix it. Even though the bumper is broken, there are many small parts beyond the bumper that is also damaged. Cars are not built as they use to be. Its all made of light steel and plastic. I remember I bought a car in the 1970s and it was Dodge Colt. That car was made of very strong steel. It got hit behind by a a huge truck. It got hit on the side one time. It got hit from behind by a car. After all those years of accidents, there was only few small dents on the car and it was still driveable.. That car was like a tank. I had to get rid of it in the late 1990s since it was so rusty and it was costing too much money to fix the rusty parts. I lost my tail pipe. My transmission was dying. Surprisingly, the engine still runs. Anyway, I got into accident not too long ago. Some idiot ran the stop sign and hit the right side of vehicle. My auto insurance company recommend a place where I can fix it and I said ok. I do not know any body shops, so I just took their word. It took nearly 4 weeks to fix and the total bill was over $8000. I only had to pay $500 deductible, which was later reimbursed since I did not cause the accident. It was the other driver who caused it. Anyway, repairs of the body does take awhile. For a bumper, that does take about a week to fix. My sister was in an accident when someone crash behind her. She had to wait a whole week to pickup her car. If you really need you car back soon, then you should let them start working on it now.6. What is the employee discount at The Body Shop?25% discount on foreign parts, 35% on domestic7. Can a body shop produce a new bumper cover out of scratch if a new one from the manufacturer is no longer madeNO.. is the simple answer., remaking a bumper from scratch is very expensive.. get one off a scrap car, and have iot repainted if it needs to match8. What is the difference between getting a check made out to you and the body shop vs you and the leinholder. ?No difference. Have it made to you and the body shop

It's especially important for your first motorcycle. I am afraid this will narrow your range of choices. I think your best bet is a cruiser, like a Honda Shadow or Kawasaki Vulcan. They have low seats and you put your legs out in front of you. A lot of people here think you should start on a 250cc bike. But I think that's too small. A 250 is not big enough to cruise at highway speeds. If you want to go more than a couple of exits on the freeway you need at least 500cc and 650 is better. With a cruiser you could even go a little bigger, because their lower center of gravity makes them easier to handle for their size. You could start on a 750. And a bike that size, you are not going to 'grow out of it' soon. Motorcycling is not about size or weight or strength, it's about finesse and balance. Please do not -expect- to dump. Assume you might, and be prepared (helmet, jacket, gloves), but do not expect to. You are right, you should start on a used bike because you are likely to be hard on your first bike. Check your local Craigslist. I've seen nice low-miles used cruisers around $3000.and $4000. They are usually V-twins so they have 'character'. A twin vibrates more than a four-cylinder, but the vibration is a lower frequency so it's not nearly as objectionable as the buzzy vibration of a four. Some are water-cooled, which makes them a little heavier, a little more complex, but smoother, quieter and longer-lived. The MSF course (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) is a good idea. They teach you some important safety habits. It turns out learning to ride a motorcycle is more dangerous than riding. 8^) 50% of motorcycle accidents happen in the first year. So safety is your top priority in starting out.5. Will Flynn make a good starter (opinion)?I think he will be a good starter for the Raiders, worth at least the money he is given6. Does the starter motor have a fuse on an Acura RSX?Take off starter and take it to a auto parts store they will test it for free, charge the battery or have some one jump you when you try to start it again. Also bleed your clutch. watch a youtube video of how to bleed a clutch for that model. Check the owners manual to see if and where the fuse is if necessary.3. what are the probable reasons for a burn out of a self starter motor in a car?Defective starter. If it does nothing, the starter relay may be at fault7. 97 ranger with new starter, battery and solenoid only makes a clicking hoise. Will start easily by pushing.?I think Steven got it right- Clicking is the symptom of a bad connection somewhere between the battery, solenoid, and starter motor. Something in that chain is not doing its job, or the connection between them is interrupted somewhere. The last Ford I had, the solenoid was located on the firewall just behind the battery. I used to have to start the car with a screwdriver by shorting out the connection on 2 posts of the solenoid switch. Those were the days ('79)! :(8. how do i remove a starter motor that is stuck on?Either the starter motor is broken or there may be a problem with either the battery or the connections between the battery and the starter motor. First thing to do is turn on your head lights with the engine turned off, then try starting the engine. If the head lights go very dim then probably the battery is flat. Check the connections between the battery and the starter motor, make sure that all connections are clean and tight. Ja9. Using thermistor vs. soft starter for motorA VFD is a complex soft starter for Motors that limits acceleration and current and thus RPM rate of change with source frequency with constant V/F with high efficiency . A huge NTC must get hot to operate and thus start at reduced current. The amount of power determines the best method. There are many more examples.10. how to remove and install a starter motor on a grand marquis 93?you undo the electrical wires going into the starter but make sure you dosconnect the battery first and then should be two bolts that hold it up you take those out and the starter should come right out. and the starter is located at the rear of the engine near the tranny11. Can putting the car into "park" while it is still moving break the starter motor or do any other damage?Hi mate, No this has nothing to do with you putting it into park while moving as starter motors pack it in all the time. But you should not be putting it in park while moving as you can damage your transmission witch can leave you stranded! Cheers Matt

He made debut against Zob Ahan as July 31, 2014 as a starter.Playing career of starterKinasewich was originally selected in the third round, 37th overall, in the 1998 WHL Bantam Draft joining first overall draft pick, Jay Bouwmeester at the Medicine Hat Tigers. After two full seasons with the Tigers, Ryan then joined the Tri-City Americans from the 200102 season and contributed 39 goals with the Americans in the following year.As an Undrafted free agent, after completing his junior career, Kinasewich made his professional debut in the 200405 season, signing with the Reading Royals of the ECHL. After earning player of the week in the ECHL at the turn of the year, Ryan played in the ECHL All-Star game and later made his debut in the American Hockey League, signing a professional try-out agreement with the Manchester Monarchs, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.Starting the 200506 on the sidelines with injury, Kinasewich was later traded by the Royals to fellow ECHL team, the Utah Grizzlies. In addition to leading the Grizzlies with 85 points in 60 games, Ryan also co-led the ECHL in goals with 39. He consolidated his offensive prowess in the ECHL the following year, after initially signing back with the Royals, Kinasewich was returned to Utah in a trade prior to the 200607 season and again led the Grizzlies in scoring with 29 goals and 59 points despite sustaining a season-ending injury on February 14, 2007, against the Fresno Falcons.During the 200708 season, Kinasewich was signed by the Grizzlies AHL team, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on a PTO, with both teams co-ordinating as affiliate to the New York Islanders. In 24 games, Kinasewich posted just 5 points before returning to co-lead the Grizzlies with 60 points, including scoring an All-time record 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) in a game in a 6-5 victory against the Phoenix RoadRunners on January 16, 2008. In 200809, Ryan remained in the ECHL with the Grizzlies and experienced stints in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters and the Hamilton Bulldogs before recovering from a supposed season-ending injury suffered in February to re-join the Grizzlies in the playoffs. On September 8, 2009, he re-signed to a one-year contract to captain the Grizzlies for the 200910 season. On October 24, 2009, Kinaeswich scored two goals in a 5-3 defeat to the Idaho Steelheads to tie and surpass Chris Taylor as the All-Time goal scoring leader in Grizzlies history. Two weeks later Kinasewich posted a 5-point night (3 goals and 2 assists) in an 8-3 rout of the Las Vegas Wranglers, to again surpass Taylor's 278 points as the All-Time Franchise scoring leader on November 14. Enjoying one of the best starts to a season in ECHL player history with 27 points in 12 games, Ryan was then signed to an AHL PTO contract with the Bulldogs on November 16, 2009. After 5 scoreless games in the AHL with the Bulldogs, and a four-point contribution in a brief return to the Sound Tigers, Ryan primarily remained with Utah. He tied Kip Miller for most goals in a Grizzlies season, leading the ECHL with 48 goals and scoring 103 points in just 59 games. Named as a starter to the ECHL All-Star game and selected to the ECHL first All-Star Team Ryan was also named as the only runner-up as the ECHL MVP. After five years, Kinasewich finished his prolific scoring tenure with the Grizzlies as the Franchise record holder in goals (156), assists (200) and points (356).Unable to establish himself above the ECHL level, on July 4, 2010, Kinasewich of Croatian descent left North America and signed a one-year contract as a free agent with Croatian team, KHL Medveak Zagreb, of the EBEL. After leading Zagreb for a second consecutive year in scoring with 54 points in 49 games, Kinasewich signed with fellow team, EC Red Bull Salzburg, on May 11, 2012.Kinasewich stay with Red Bull in the 201213 season was short lived as after 14 games he was mutually released from his contract. On October 31, 2012, he signed for the remainder of the season in Italy with Milano Rossoblu.Upon the conclusion of his tenure with Milan, Kinasewich opted to return to the EBEL for the following season, signing an optional two-year contract with Graz 99ers on April 25, 2013.After finishing his professional career, Kinasewich played in the Chinook Hockey League with the Lacombe Generals for the 201617 season, before ending his playing career in accepting an assistant coaching role with former club, the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, for the 201718 season.
