Sellers of night driving glasses claim that they are effective at reducing glare and dazzle at night, and if you've tried them, then you might feel that they work, especially if your eyes are particularly photosensitive. However, there is no scientific proof that they work. In fact, the yellow tint - while making it feel like you can 'see' better - can reduce visibility in the same way that wearing sunglasses at night will, albeit not quite as severely. In reality, yellow tinted glasses are more effective in foggy or hazy conditions rather than for combatting headlight glare. If you are particularly susceptible to headlight glare, then the first piece of advice is to visit your optician for an eye test. If you need prescription glasses, then wearing these will help, especially if you buy a pair with an anti-reflective coating. These will boost the eye's ability to cope with glare, and also reduce the reflections created from the lenses themselves. The other things you can do to reduce the effects of glare involve cleaning. Keep your windscreen clean, and your glasses, too, and the effects of bright lights will be reduced. The less color in the lights the better, because if a cop can, and will pull you over if your lights have any color. (Any after market HID are illegal, but 6k looks normal, so you probably wont get stopped) I would go with 6k, or 4.3k. Also remember that you have to adjust the housing when you install HID's, because they will point higher.

If you are interested in getting the most bang for your hard-earned bucks in the dual-cab 4x4 space, it pays to look past the industry's top-ranked pairing of Ford's Ranger and the Toyota HiLux. Think about it for a second. If a particular ute is proving popular with punters - take the HiLux SR5 or Ranger Wildtrak as examples - there is less incentive for a dealership to haggle with you over a few hundred dollars to get the sale on a model that will probably turn over pretty quickly anyway. Considering both models have just been updated for the 2021 model year too, it's unlikely that you will nail down a discount anytime soon. Along with that popularity, though, comes the desire from an industry perspective to carve up the pie in as many ways as possible in order to make sure everyone can choose the slice that suits them best. Meaning, there's plenty of specifications and variants within each model line which could suit your needs and wants (and price) better than any range hero. It's within these unusually shaped pieces of pie where the deals are lurking, and if you are willing to be a little bit brave on spec, then you could be aboard a dual-cab ute in 2020 for a lot less than you think. Key to this is the simple fact that the modern dual-cab ute does not vary much from one to the next. Scratch the surface of any of the current generation of dual-cabs, and you will find next to no difference when it comes to key mechanical specifications. With that in mind, the price difference from top to bottom comes down to what you want on and in your ute in terms of specification. What you want and what you need If you want to save money buying a dual-cab ute, then ask yourself the hard questions. What are you planning to do with your new rig - is it a suburban warrior, or will it be seeing service in the dirt? Do you need maximum towing or payload capability, or will a pair of mountain bikes and a box trailer be the hardest work it ever sees? If you reckon you need the tray to carry sizable items on a regular basis, then hard tonneau covers and faux roll bars may impact on that ability - even a plastic tub liner might not be the best option, as it can gobble up vital centimetres of width. When it comes to other specs like leather seating and big alloy wheels, you will definitely save money if you can live without them - or alternatively, a limited edition model may offer you most of what you are looking for at the expense of other items. Currently on sale for $42,990 driveaway (September 2020), the Core Enduro 4x4 runs VW's 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic - not a common spec in the dual-cab world. It tows less than its rivals at 3000kg, but if you are only taking the tinny to the boat ramp, that's more than enough. Mazda's got a brand-new BT-50 on the way, and while we do not know how it's going to be priced just yet, it's set to offer a level of kit, ability and practicality above and beyond its predecessor. It shares a 3.0-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder producing 140kW/450Nm with the also-new Isuzu D-Max and will only be offered with a dual-cab body at first. That's all well and good, but Mazda will be willing to do big discounts on the previous generation too, in order to clear out the lot considering the new car is on sale imminently. You can nab a high-spec dual-cab BT-50 4x4 Boss for $54,990 driveaway, a 4x4 XTR spec for $45,990 driveway or a 4x2 XT with tray for $31,840. Check Mazda's website for the full range of discounts. This is an astonishingly good buy for someone in the market for a ute with decent passenger appointments and the longest cargo tray on the market. The Ultimate wants for exactly nothing in the cabin; heated/vented leather front seats and leather rear seats, automatic lights and wipers, decent multimedia and tinted windows. It's also arguably one of the best-equipped utes for safety aids that includes AEB, lane departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert. It comes stock with 4x4, Ford's 3.2-litre five-cylinder engine and six-speed auto, as well as a locking rear diff. Do not get me wrong, it's a great headlight & I doubt anyone would be disappointed with the performance. It came in second place in my testing. Here is what Harley says about it. The Kuryakyn Phase 7 LED is a good LED headlight for Harley and comes in at a price way less than the Vision X and Daymaker at only $270. I ran the Phase 7 LED on my Harley Street Glide Special for several years before being introduced to the Vision X. I never wanted to pay Harley for their overpriced Daymaker. I even did a video review and comparison between the stock Harley headlight and the Phase 7 LED. I liked the Kuryakyn Phase 7 and it is way brighter than the stock Harley halogen headlamp. It is more of a budget LED headlight in my opinion for those that want a brighter LED headlight on their Harley, but can not spend too much money. It will definitely be a step up. However, the Phase 7 just can not compare when tested against the brightness of the Vision X and Daymaker. The Isuzu D-Max has just been facelifted for the 2021 model year and Isuzu is keen to do deals on both the new car as well as the old. People talk about these real conversions with all this cutoff and whatnot. Really that is not a big deal in my opinion. My friend has had green HIDs in his low beams and fogs. He has never got a ticket and they are in reflector housings. So dont worry about tickets, the most you will get probably is a warning if at all.2. An innovative design that uses semiconductor chips to control light allows engineers to use a single LED per lamp. According to Strategy Analytics Inc., by the end of this decade, 12 percent of light vehicles will feature LED headlights. "As with many other electronic features, intensifying competition among automakers is forcing the growth of LED headlights," says Kevin Mak, an analyst who specializes in automotive electronics. "Challenges facing [engineers] include brightness levels from current LED chips, thermal issues, complexity of controlling LED headlights and their increased functionality, and ultimately, the higher assembly costs when compared to competing halogen- and xenon-based systems," Mak points out. "The next step in front lighting is adaptive driving beam technology," says Mike Godwin, director of LED products at Osram Opto Semiconductors Inc., which provides components for lighting suppliers such as Hella and ZKW. Osram has pioneered several advanced lighting systems, such as a hybrid headlight that's used in the Audi A4 sedan. The LEDriving Xenarc headlight boasts a combination of xenon and LED technologies. Another recent Osram innovation is laser headlights, which debuted last year on the BMW i8 sports car. Laser light modules are extremely compact, opening up a wide range of design options. Benefits of laser light include its long range and high system efficiency. Automotive engineers are eager to adopt LED technology, because it offers new opportunities, especially when it comes to packaging. "LEDs are extremely thin, so you can reduce the package size tremendously," says Godwin. "Because LEDs are point emitters, you can package and optically guide them in a much thinner space. Traditional halogen, on the other hand, needs a lot of depth, due to focal lengths." Engineers at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotic Institute are also developing next-generation automotive lighting technology. They recently unveiled a programmable headlight that may be commercially available by the end of this decade. The system uses a digital light processing projector instead of a standard headlight or a cluster of LEDs. This allows the light to be divided into a million tiny beams, each of which can be independently controlled by an onboard computer. A camera senses oncoming cars, falling precipitation and other objects of interest, such as road signs. The light beams can then be adjusted accordingly, some dimmed to spare the eyes of oncoming drivers, while others might be brightened to highlight street signs or the traffic lane. However, the changes in overall illumination are minor and generally not noticeable by the driver. "Standard vehicle headlights illuminate everything in their pathway, which is necessary for nighttime driving," says Robert Tamburo, lead engineer on the Carnegie Mellon project. "Recently, headlights that adapt to the environment have made their way to the road. However, they tend to be one-off solutions that can perform only one task.
